“Koktalnitsa” is an ordinary sealed metal box with a lid and grid support in the middle, used for hot-smoking fish. Tightness is needed so that smoke does not escape.
It got its name because it is used mainly for preparing such fish dishes as “koktal”. For example, it can be a carp with peppers, onions and tomatoes.
Sawdust and twigs of trees, pears or cherries are placed on the bottom of it.
